Single player works like a dream.
Online has worked tolerably well for months - probably almost a year - if I avoided peak times for local use.
It may be something with v1.5. I think it's more likely to be the ISP's service offering, which has had a wide range of "teething problems" that I suspect they're still playing with.
Anyway, will look into it more later - have to go - thanks for suggestions.

So what is the quality of gameplay in singleplayer for you, Lichen (i.e. fps, stutters, relatively slow loading). If playing singleplayer gives you crappy gameplay, you might want to look into reformatting and re-installing windows.
I'm also curious, what are your hard drive specs?

Too much bullshit to remember and follow to even go with this company in the first place. $80 for 24 months/ 2 years sounds too good to be true anyway.
I've only breifly looked, but here is a broadband company that you could consider
http://www.activ8me.net.au/default.asp?contentID=600
. I pay roughly $60 a month here in the states for DSL speeds, and it isn't the "greatest" speed in the world either. It's still satellite, but it wouldn't hurt to try.
Also, if you connect to the internet through an Ethernet port, try looking into the

Pentium 4 CPU 3.06GHz
2.00 GB of RAM
Windows XP
NVIDIA GeForce 7900 GS
... so it's not the computer.
It's Virgin Wireless Broadband - basically a mobile phone box bolted to the wall - notoriously bad for lag and intermittent drop-outs, and I think their literature even indicates that it isn't really up to FPS games. I've been on it for almost two years, I think, almost since the launch of the service, and though it's improved markedly and is certainly better than dialup, it's nothing like a real broadband service.
The problem is, it's all I can get where I live, even though I'm only 40 minutes from the Brisbane CBD. The copper to my area just isn't up to it.
It's annoying, though, that until recently I'd been able to play well most of the time, particularly off-peak for where I am - which is generally when most players are around anyway.
So, I'll keep trying from time to time, but don't hold great hopes.
A decent connection is bound to reach here some day, particularly with the billions being poured into the National Broadband Network, but it could be years.

Stay away from satellite; That's what I'm on right now.
I can connect to games but most of the time when I get on I can't send messages or shoot at all.
It also has a 1 second delay while my orders get relayed off to everyone else so, in a firefight, you're fairly screwed.
If you're in/near a city, I'd try to find a wireless broadband ISP.

Why not build/buy a new computer? Cause' that would solve many problems you have with giants and even lag (or at least reduce it depending on how much of an upgrade and what you're upgrading).
I suggest a decent CPU (at least 2.4 GHz) and GPU (even an old GeForce FX5200 is enoguh for Giants). After that, look into getting some kind of DSL, Cable, or Satelite broadband connection, they are getting pretty cheap, or at least should be by now. And if you already have braodband of some kind, would help if you had cat6 Ethernet cables, or if youre on a wireless connection, go with a wireless-N network (stronger faster signal.)
Btw, could you post your system specs and how you are connected to the internet.

Looks like I'm pretty much out of it now. Either my connection has got even worse, or the 1.5 patch is exacerbating things, but I can't get into a game without serious visible lag (frozen vimps etc) or someone complaining about lag. My figures seem to be about the same, but the effects are much worse.
Just when there's enough people around for decent games.
Looks like I'll have to wait for the National Broadband Network.

Ex, were you at the meeting?
If so, someone of your rank has the right to hand out a WAAW Award, for the clan member who played awesomely, and neither me or Puglin was there to do it.

Well, there I go again. By the time a decent broadband connection reaches my place, no-one will be playing Giants anymore. Or, if I'm lucky, it'll be time for patch 1.6.

Hey guys, I can't come to any meeting in the coming 2 weeks because I have to do 16 (yup, 16) tests and reports and other stuff for school so I won't have any time.
After that, on Saturday the 27th of June I have holiday, I could come to a meeting then

Even if it wasn't, you don't have to worry. Because with the 1.5 beta patch, it has it's own server browser so you don't have to go through gamespy to see if there is a game hosted.
